The 2013 Megabyte National Championships will be held July 26th-28th in Marblehead, MA. This event will be in conjunction with the Marblehead NOOD Regatta and should attract a great turnout with the close proximity of the Manchester-by-the-Sea fleet. The Megabyte was on display and available for demos at last week's National Sailing Programs Symposium in Clearwater, FL. Numerous attendees took turns sailing the boat in a relatively light breeze, but were impressed by its maneverability, spacious cockpit, and power. A family of 3 even hopped into together and took the boat for a spin!

Want to join the fleet for the midwinters and avoid the logistics hassle? Zim Sailing has one charter boat available for midwinters (MKII rig and sail)! This is a new boat, never sailed. Mark your calendars! The megabyte class has been invited to host our midwinters event in conjunction with the NOOD Regatta February 15-17th, 2013 at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club in Florida. Zim Sailing took on the role of Megabyte builder at the beginning of the 2012 summer season. Zim included the boat in their displayed product range at the recent Newport and Annapolis boatshows. The Megabyte was a head turner at both shows, particularly commanding attention when the wind was light and all 100 sq ft. of sail area was hoisted. There was a great showing of interest in the boat and active racing fleets.

Manchester Yacht Club and the US Eastern Megabyte fleet hosted the traditional and as in past years outstandingly organised One Design Weekend including the Megabyte East Coast Regatta. Megabyte Fleet Captain Northeast Schuyler Glidden again pulled out all stops laying on not only a great event, but outstanding sailing weather, great catering and memorable get-togethers. The US Eastern Fleet hosted another fantastic Megabyte event. A record-setting 16 Megabyters showed up to compete for the 2010 NA title. John Rouse of the Southeast Fleet was crowned champion. This is John's first North American title. He beat out a very talented field of sailors to win, including 2008 NA Champ Holly Fabyan.

The 2010 Megabyte Midwinters were held on February 20th and 21st at the Palm Beach Sailing Club in West Palm Beach, FL.
All 8 races were sailed on the Ocean course just east of the sailing club in light to medium winds and 2-3 ft seas. Although turnout was light this year, competition was close for the 3 veteran Megabyte skippers John Rouse, Paul Gingras and David Crawford.
