Congrats to James Hogg for winning the 2013 Nationals! Here are some updates and a recap from James:
5 races today in lighter winds and calmer seas under sunny skies. Some changes to the leader board with wins for James Hogg and Marc Porier. Dave Cliffel sailing very consistent retained his overnight second place. James Hogg has taken the lead, but there is still all for grabs on the final 3 rd day especially among the top 3. Let's hope the thunderstorms hold off tomorrow.
Sunday’s racing at Marblehead race weeks’ National Megabyte Championship was in calmer weather although at times choppy seas. The thunderstorms and rain held off. The three final day races saw two more wins for Marc Poirier and a win for Emmett Holt in the last race of the regatta, with Emmett really capitalising on the significant wind shifts after a crowded gate with three boat classes and some 50 boats converging at the same time on the leeward gate. James Hogg brought the championship ‘home’ with a consistent series of three second place finishes, with Marc Poirier in second and Dave Cliffel in third after eleven races over three days in a variety of conditions. Packing the megabytes and preparing for the roadtrips home was followed by the prizegiving in the NOOD tent at the Boston Yacht Club.
Megabyte "Headquarters" was onboard Emmett Holt's lobsterboat 'Selkie'. Emmet, Selkie, and his Megabyte 'Byte Sized' made the trip over from Manchester together..
